“I think no human being can give more than this. Making life possible for the Other, if only for a moment. Permission.”
— Martin Buber
What is Coaching and how will it help me?
Coaching is both similar to and profoundly different from other forms of support e.g. psychotherapy, supervision and consulting. It is similar in that all forms of effective support rely on a strong sense of connection between coach and coaches. Coaching is different in that the focus is on learning new skills, knowledge and behaviours, and improving performance.
As your coach I will help you examine in depth what is happening in your situation, and work with you to discover what is in the way of you moving the situation to a satisfactory conclusion. Once we are clear, we will consider what choices you have, and together decide on a course of action that sits well with your values, aspirations and personality. Instead of rushing to action, we will focus on resourcing you, so that you feel confident to take the next step, whatever that is. Coaching involves building in time for review and reflection, so that you can transfer the learning to other areas of your life, and move closer towards the life you want for yourself.
